Priyanka Chopra starrer Kalpana Chawla biopic is already facing a huge roadblock. After opting out of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Rakesh Sharma biopic, the actress was keen on the biopic of the first woman astronaut of the Indian origin. However, this is likely to happen now, according to the reports in DNA. According to the daily, the late astronaut’s husband Jean-Pierre Harrison has declined to grant the rights for the much ambition film of Bollywood. Priya Mishra was supposed to helm the project and studied for 7 years for the same. The maker even met and took Kalpana’s father BL Chawla’s permission for the making the movie.

Kalpana’s husband, also an author of ‘The Edge Of Time: The Authoritative Biography Of Kalpana Chawla’ solely owns the rights. The source tells, “After Kalpana’s demise, all rights associated with her estate are said to have been transferred to Harrison and no one else besides him can give the permission to make the film. Even though Priya may have got the go-ahead from Kalpana’s father, it seems that alone may not be enough to make the biopic. Priyanka’s team has tried to acquire the said rights from Harrison, but apparently, he hasn’t agreed to grant them yet.”

There were reports that PeeCee would make her comeback in Bollywood through Aamir Khan’s Salute. However, the star opted out from this biopic and so did Priyanka. She later confirmed to be the part of Salman Khan starrer Bharat. Kalpana Chawla Biopic was one of the most awaited films for the desi fans. We hope that the makers get the rights soon!
