Even though it has been more than two years that she has been a part of a Bollywood film, Priyanka Chopra knows how to make the right headlines. Thanks to her Hollywood television career and her international philanthropy work, Priyanka Chopra has made a huge impression for herself in the foreign media. She is also appointed as a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights. So it is no wonder that Priyanka Chopra has managed to feature in Variety's 500 Most Influential People List, that too for the second time.
A happy Priyanka Chopra thanked the publication for considering her in the elite list on her Twitter timeline. But that thing that made her the happiest was the mention of her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, near the picture of hers displayed by the magazine. She wrote, "Big thanks to @Variety for including me in your #Variety500 for the 2nd year in a row! What makes this one extra special is the little name right above mine...@PurplePebblePic. Stories are at the heart of everything we do, regardless of genre or language.."

This is what Variety wrote about Priyanka Chopra in their pinup for her, "Besides her acting, Chopra also takes time to sing and has released three singles — “In My City,” which aired during NFL games; “Exotic,” with Pitbull; and “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s song. But she has signed a contract with DesiHits for a record to be released by Interscope Records in North America and Island Records in the rest of the world.
She has set up her own production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, which released “Ventilator,” a Marathi-language film in 2016. Chopra is also active philanthropically and is a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights. She has her own foundation, the Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education, which helps needy kids." Way to go, PeeCee!
Salman Khan and Karan Johar also feature in the list. For Salman, Variety said, "Unlike his contemporary Khans whose fan bases are staid by comparison, every Salman release generates mass hysteria across India, a frenzy surpassed only by the fans of South Indian superstar Rajinikanth.”
Billionaire and Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra are among the dozen Indians named in Variety magazine’s list of 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry.
Other Indians in the list include producers Siddharth Kapur, Ekta Kapoor, Aditya Chopra, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Uday Shankar (Star India CEO), Subhash Chandra (Essel Group Chairman ), and Punit Goenka (Zee Entertainment CEO).
