Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi may have opened to not so great reviews from the critics but the film is doing fairly well at the Indian box office. The political drama arrived in theatres alongside Arjun Kapoor's India's Most Wanted and though the latter was said to have an upper hand in the box office clash, it's the former that has raced ahead at the ticket windows. Yes, the controversial Modi biopic not only earned more than Arjun's film on day 1 but it also raked in more moolah on day 2 as well. Guess Narendra Modi's impressive win in the elections has proved to be boon for this film. PM Narendra Modi Box Office Collection Day 1: Vivek Oberoi's Political Drama Fares Decently on Friday, Mints Rs 2.88 Crore
After collecting Rs 2.88 crore on day 1, Omung Kumar's directorial venture saw a growth in its collection on day 2. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter and revealed the updated figures saying, "#PMNarendraModi witnessed an upward trend [30.56% growth] on Day 2... Performing better in mass circuits... Metros, which contribute big numbers, aren’t as strong... Day 3 crucial, needs to gather speed... Fri 2.88 cr, Sat 3.76 cr. Total: ₹ 6.64 cr. India biz."
Further, a report in Boxofficeindia noted, "PM Narendra Modi showed growth of around 30% on its second day. The collections are a little better in some of the Hindi circuits. The only plus is that it has beaten the competition India's Most Wanted but that is hardly an achievement." Apart from Arjun's action thriller and Modi biopic, Hollywood biggie Aladdin starring Will Smith Will in the lead along with Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, and Billy Magnussen also released on Friday, May 24. The film took a bigger opening than both the Bollywood movies and is still performing far better than them.
