PM Narendra Modi Box Office Collection Day 1: Vivek Oberoi's Political Drama Fares Decently on Friday, Mints Rs 2.88 Crore
PM Narendra Modi takes a better opening than India's Most Wanted.
While Arjun Kapoor's India's Most Wanted struggled at the Indian box office, Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi did decent business on day 1. Both the films arrived in theatres yesterday and failed to impress the critics despite creating good pre-release buzz. However, Modi biopic still managed to draw the audience to the cinema halls and the credit for that goes to BJP's big win in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections. Also, Omung Kumar's directorial venture had courted quite a few controversies before its release and that too worked in the favour of the film. Box Office Report: India's Most Wanted Off to a Dull Start, PM Narendra Modi Witnesses Around 10 to 15% Occupancy
Just a while back, popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter and revealed the first-day collections. He wrote, "#PMNarendraModi had a lukewarm start in the morning, but picked up speed as Day 1 progressed... Evening shows witnessed better occupancy... Fri ₹ 2.88 cr. India biz."
Apart from these two Bollywood films, yesterday the masses also saw the release of Hollywood biggie Aladdin starring Will Smith in the lead along with Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, and Billy Magnussen. Interestingly, this live-action adaptation of Disney's 1992 animated film of the same name did much better than both India's Most Wanted and Modi biopic at the domestic box office. Coming back to Vivek starrer, the political drama may have ended day 1 on a slightly good note but whether it will continue to rake in moolah or not, only time will tell. The film, which is a comeback of sorts for Vivek Oberoi, has been produced by his father Suresh Oberoi along with Sandip Ssingh and Anand Pandit.
