The PM Narendra Modi biopic was initially slated to release on April 11. But it was a day before the release of the biographical drama, that a stay on the release was issued. Despite been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification, the PM Narendra Modi biopic could not manage to get a release date. A source in the EC told ANI that film should not be released till May 19 and the Supreme Court (SC) has finally given its verdict. On April 17, officials from the EC watched PM Narendra Modi in a special screening and filed a report on the same and submitted to the SC. In the report it mentioned, ‘more than biography, it is hagiography’. The EC remained firm on its decision that the film should not be released till the last phase of Lok Sabha Elections in order to ensure free and fair elections. The producer of PM Narendra Modi biopic stated that officials of Election Commission of India banned the film without watching it.
