PM Narendra Modi biopic starring Vivek Oberoi has been in the news since the past few weeks over its release. The Supreme Court on Monday, April 15 asked the Election Commission to review its decision on the temporary ban imposed on the biopic PM Narendra Modi after watching the film. The apex court had asked the filmmakers to screen the film, PM Narendra Modi for the Election Commission of India. On Thursday, April 18, actor Vivek Oberoi who plays the lead role of Narendra Modi in the controversial biopic met the Election Commission (EC) and said that the poll panel watched the biopic gave a "good response".
The Election Commission has now submitted its report in a sealed cover before the Supreme Court. The apex court has posted the matter for further hearing on Friday, 26 April and directed that report be served to the petitioner, the producers of the film. Initially, the film directed by Omung Kumar was slated to release on April 11, the first day of polling for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. Actor Vivek Oberoi even offered his prayers at the Saibaba temple in Shirdi yesterday, hoping to receive a positive response from SC over the film's release. He said, "We sought blessings of Saibaba. Our supporters and fans are eagerly waiting to watch the film. We made the film based on an inspirational story, but political parties are attacking it...we are expecting the film to be released soon."
