The casting for the sequel to the 2017 sleeper hit Hindi Medium is causing much excitement for the fans. The makers have not announced anything yet, but every now and then we hear about someone or the other cast in the film, only to be denied later. Now the latest casting update or speculation which looks to be true is that Radhika Madan is cast in a leading role. The former television star had made her Bollywood debut last year in Vishal Bharadwaj's Pataakha and had won acclaim for her performance. She will be seen next in Vasan Bala's Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. As per a report in PeepingMoon.com, Radhika Madan will be playing the grownup character of Irrfan Khan's daughter from the first film. What's more, Irrfan Khan is also reportedly returning to play an important role in Hindi Medium 2. The actor is currently in London recuperating from a tumour that he has been diagnosed with last year.
However, Saba Qamar who had played Irrfan's wife will not be sought out for the sequel, owing to Bollywood's reluctance to cast Pakistani actors in the movies (after 2016 Uri attack). The first Hindi Medium film, directed by Saket Chaudhary, was one of the most profitable movies of 2017. The movie was a satire on the malpractices in the education system and discussed the lengths to which some parents go to get admission for their little children in prestigious schools. The movie also starred Amrita Singh and Deepak Dobriyal.
