Parmanu Box Office Collection Day 3: John Abraham's Film Sees a Good Opening Weekend; Collects Rs 20.78 Crore
Parmanu is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 45 crore
John Abraham is enjoying audience confidence with his latest film, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran. After being mired in controversies over various legal battles between the producers, Parmanu finally saw the light of the day on May 25. The movie was welcomed to good-to-average reviews from the critics, who praised Parmanu's premise and ambition but criticised the execution. However, the audience was far more forgiving, as the movie enjoyed good word-of-mouth publicity and had a decent opening weekend.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran has done good business in its opening weekend, riding on the current wave of nationalism. The movie has collected over Rs 20 crore in the first weekend, despite IPL final eating into its collections. Here's what Taran Adarsh had tweeted about the first three day collections of Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran.
However, the journey is just half done, as the business in the days ahead is just as crucial. Parmanu is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 45 crore (including the marketing costs), therefore the movie has to do good business in the coming week as well. Also, with the release of Veere Di Wedding and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero on June 1, it might prove to be a mighty challenge for Parmanu to sustain ahead.
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is directed by Abhishek Sharma and also stars Diana Penty, Boman Irani and Anuja Sathye. The movie is a fictional retelling of how India hid the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests away from the eyes of the prying United States of America.
