Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus historical project ‘Padmaavat’ has been going through only controversies till it finally reaches the theatres on 25th of January. The ambitious project based on the life of Rani Padmini, the legendary Rajput Queen has been a center of protests and threats, due to alleged factual inaccuracy depicted by the director. Amidst all the bans it is surrounded in, Bhansali has released a new trailer. Very similar to the first trailer, this one, however, focuses more on Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor.
The new trailer shows the updated title and release date along with beautiful magnificence depicted by Deepika Padukone, who plays the titular role and Shahid Kapoor. Just like the first one, this too shows the lavish sets, historical feel and compelling background which makes you anticipate the film. There is a distinct focus on Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as compared to Ranveer Singh, who plays the negative role of Alauddin Khilji.

When the first trailer was released it received tremendous appreciation from industry people and fans alike. But soon the film was embroiled in one controversy after another. The initial release date of December 1 was pushed to January 25. The censor board has already reviewed the film passing it with U/A certificate. Now due to pressure from fringe groups and political parties, the film has been banned in five states in India (Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat) thus far.
The ardent fans, however, will still look forward to this epic of a project. The movie has been of keen interest to the fans of the lead stars, owing to their strong characters. The film has an added visual delight added to it, with it being released in 3D as well. We wonder after all this renaming and changes incorporated, how will Bhansali’s period drama fare? What do you think of this new trailer? Do let us know.
