Padmaavat Becomes Seventh Deepika Padukone Movie to Cross 100-Crore: Here's a List of Other Films of the Bollywood Actress

It would not be wrong to say actress Deepika Padukone is reigning at the box-office. Most of her movies have received critical and commercial appreciation and made a great business. Talking about her recent release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmaavat has managed to make Rs. 100 crore in just four days of its release.  The film after going through much delay and trouble for its release is now being appreciated in not just India but also internationally. Check Padmaavat's international box-office collections. It has broken the records of other big-budget films like Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan, PK, Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani.

People are praising Ranisa Padmavati’s performance and with her back-to-back successes, Deepika has proved her mettle. While Padmaavat happens to be the first movie of Shahid Kapoor to cross Rs. 100 crore, it is Deepika’s seventh movie! Let us take a look at other films which made Rs. 100 crore.

  1. Chennai Express: Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone together are a delight to watch, more so when it is a Rohit Shetty comic caper. This romantic comedy had some action sequences too and it made a good commercial entertainer. This film just like its title swooped like an express into the Rs. 100 crore club. The film was the top seventh highest-grossing Bollywood film. It made a gross total of Rs. 227.13 crores.
  2. Happy New Year: Farah Khan’s Happy New Year was a multi-starrer comedy-drama which again saw Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone coming together. It released during Diwali 2014 and the festive season also helped to spark the movie collections. Although the film got mixed reviews, the commercial success cannot be ignored. It made Rs. 44 crore on the first day itself. It collected Rs. 203 crore.
  3. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: This film was loved by everyone, the youngsters more. The film created an added interest with Deepika Padukone teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor after their break-up. Theirs is a pair that is loved even today and the film’s subject was also very relevant and gave an important message out. The film too crossed Rs. 100 crore in its first week. It made a collection of Rs. 188.57 crore.
  4. Bajirao Mastani: Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, a pair that is adorable even off the screen today. Again a Bhansali film, it did justice to the magnificence it showcased, be it songs or the war sequences. The film was also critically acclaimed, also, we cannot deny how Ranveer Singh’s brilliant performance in this one. The film made a business of Rs. 186 crore.
  5. Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela: Bhansali along with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone can be called a combination which will always work! This film totally brought out the scorching chemistry between the lead actors. This sensual love story was appreciated by the die-hard fans. The film grossed Rs. 113 crore.
  6. Race 2: This film was another multi-starrer directed by Abbas Mustan. The action thriller along with Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, John Abraham also saw Deepika Padukone’s sizzle. Compared to the other films, this one took a little longer to enter the Rs. 100 crore club but in its gradual pace, it made a business of Rs. 104.45 crore.

The film Padmaavat cashed well on the advantage of Republic Day weekend. Take a look at the film’s box-office collection in India. While she is basking in the glory of Padmaavat’s success, Deepika does have few movies in the lineup. She is working on Vishal Bharadwaj’s Sapna Didi along with Irfan Khan. There are also rumours of her taking up another Bhansali project based on the life of poet Sahir Ludhianvi. The actress was also in talks for Kick 2. But guess, it would be best to wait for the official confirmation. We are sure her fans can’t wait to see her back on the big screen soon.
