You switch on the news channel and there will be at least one update on the upcoming film 'Padmaavat'. The film has been hit by constant waves of controversy despite the approved modifications. The Supreme Court of India and The Central Board of Film Certification has given a nod to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus but Karni Sena group continues to protest. Ahead of its release on January 25, 2018, the advance booking for Padmaavat in 3D and Imax 3D shows are in full swing.
Trade Analyst Akshaye Rathi told Bollywoodlife.com, "After the Supreme Court’s decision to lift the ban in Rajasthan and the other states, the advance bookings have started off tremendously. The buzz and the bookings have been unprecedented till now and I am sure, Padmaavat will open very well. Even though the protests continue, I am sure legitimate businesses will screen the film and will have enough security to ensure smooth screening of the film."
The trade expert also estimated that Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh's period drama will roughly rake in Rs 25- 30 crores on Day 1 despite being a working day. The buzz of the movie plus its release in 2D, 3D, Imax 3D, Tamil and Telugu will also add on to its business.
Meanwhile, Shri Rajput Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi issued fresh threats after SC dismissed the plea of banning the film in the states. He also stated that if the movie was released then they will have to face 'enormous outburst' of people. Also, 200 Rajput women recently threatened to perform Jauhar if the film is released. Amid the threats, the bookings have a different tale to tell. What are your thoughts on the same?
