One of the most prestigious honours that celebrate the best in cinema are the Academy Awards. Oscars 2020 are expected to be even more interesting given the kind of amazing films that will be competing for the big honours this year. As for India, Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has been the official entry in the Best Foreign Language film category. Although, we recently learnt that the film lost out to other nominees in the final list and won't be competing in that category anymore. Confused? Well, according to the Academy rules, the films that are considered for this category must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by Dec. 31 and must run for minimum seven consecutive days. The rules also state that the film must have a run-time of more than 40 minutes. As per a report in Variety, almost 344 films are eligible for the Best Picture category this year under these rules and Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy is a part of this list. So even though the chances may be bleak given that the other nominations include films like Ad Astra, Bombshell, Booksmart among others which have received immense critical acclaim, it's nice to see that the Ranveer Singh starrer is a part of this list.

Not just this, we also spotted another Bollywood actor's film on this list, well an International film but still, Priyanka Chopra's Isn't It Romantic too is eligible under the Academy rules and has been added to the list. While the excitement remains high to find out who will bag the coveted Best Picture nomination, the list for the 92nd Academy Awards 2019 is all set to be out on January 13, 2020 whereas the ceremony will be held on February 9,2020.
