Oops! Did Shahid Kapoor Take a Sly Dig at Padmaavat?

Even though Shahid Kapoor acted supremely well for his character Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the movie, it was Ranveer Singh who played Allaudin Khilji who was showered with praise by most of them.

Shahid Kapoor's next film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is up for release and it deals with an prevalent social issue. The actor was questioned if tackling issues through films has sort of become a way of life for him considering Haider and Udta Punjab too were about giving out social messages like BGMC. To which he said, "I closely felt the world the film is set in. I’ve done two movies that are real and rooted. Haider, which was set in a conflicted state like Kashmir, was about a person’s emotions and the issues that he grapples with, though the core was Shakespearean. Then, Udta Punjab was about the drug problem in Punjab. Both films gave me immense love from the people we made them for because we told their stories without fictionalising them." Shahid Kapoor Aces A Monochromatic Ensemble At The Miss Diva 2018 Red Carpet - View Pics

He added further saying, "BGMC is about an issue, Padmaavat had become an issue." Oops! Now that looks like he took a dig at the makers and the movie. But well, he isn'w wrong here. Even though Padmaavat was a successful film at the box office, it embroiled itself in controversies right from the start.  So much so that the audience started doubting the release of the movie.  Padmaavat did exceedingly well at the box office. Even though Sasha acted supremely well for his character Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the movie, it was Ranveer Singh who played Allaudin Khilji who was showered with praise by most of them. Not to forget, the film embroiled itself into controversies right from the start. Eventually the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film did hit the movie screens and minted great money at the box office. So, we'd quite like to agree with what Shahid said about the movie. How about you? Tell us in the comments below!
