October Box Office Collection Day 2: Varun Dhawan's Film Shows Improvement; Earns 12.51 Crore
October is directed by Shoojit Sircar and also marks the debut of Banita Sandhu.
Varun Dhawan's October is not exactly a great box office bet, despite the star's 100% box office success rate. Ever since he made his debut with Student of the Year in 2012, Varun Dhawan has not seen a box office failure per se. Yes, there are movies like Dilwale and Dishoom that had underperformed, but there has been no outright flops. But there is a lingering worry about the box office prospects for October. Will this offbeat movie about love and life click with the audience?
We want it to be a hit simply because October boasts of Varun Dhawan's career best performance. The actor has been receiving rave reviews for his act as Dan, a hotel management trainee, from both critics and fellow actors.
October has started off slow on Friday collected about Rs 5 crore on the opening day. However, thanks to the reviews and word-of-mouth publicity, the movie picked up pace on Saturday. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, October has collected Rs 12.51 crore in two days.
October is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, so it has a task ahead in the coming days to call itself a profitable movie. Here's what our review has to say about the movie, "October can boast of Varun Dhawan's most interesting, finest performance till date. His performance adds a lovely hue to what can be seen as Shoojit Sircar's dreamy take on life, love and death. Normal cine-goers might find the snail-pace proceedings difficult to ingest. October is a palatable fare to those with a taste for cinema that goes beyond mainstream."
October is directed by Shoojit Sircar and also marks the debut of Banita Sandhu.
