Contrary to expectations, Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu starrer October has started on a rather slow note at the box office. According to trade analyst Taran Aadarsh, Shoojit Sircar directorial, October has collected Rs 5.04 crore on the first day of its release. Prior to the film's release, Bollywood celebs who attended the special screening of October had all great things to say about the film. Not just that, considering that it's a Shoojit Sircar movie, it was expected that the film would perform exceedingly well. However, despite of positive reviews from movie critics and B-Townies, October has opened on dull note.
To talk about the plot of the film, October showcases the unusual love story of Dan (Varun) and Shiuli (Banita) who work in the same hotel as hotel management trainees. While Shiuli is bright and sharp, Dan is irresponsible and least interested in his work. When an unfortunate incident takes place and Shiuli goes into coma, only Dan among all other friends sticks through when he gets to know that he was the last person she inquired about before she went into coma.
#October has a slow start... Biz will have to witness miraculous growth over the weekend + maintain a strong trend on weekdays to leave a mark... Word of mouth is extremely mixed... Fri ₹ 5.04 cr. India biz.

The storyline of October is strictly average but Varun's spectacular performance is highly appreciated. His previous film, Judwaa 2 had him in a totally different character and in comparison to that, Dan is a very deep and emotional character. The role is diverse and something that Varun has never played before. That has worked perfectly well for the actor on the performance front. However, the story of October as a whole is pretty much predictable. Nonetheless, if you are a fan of Varun Dhawan, you are ought to fall in love with him in the movie. Talking about numbers, let's see how the film scores in the coming week.
