It also marked the debut of her younger sister, Tanuja. Though debuting in Hamari Beti, her first big break was in the 1955 film Seema, for which she won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Nutan holds the record for the most-awarded actress at Filmfare with five wins. The feat is matched only by her niece, Kajol, who equalled the numbers in 2011.
