Not Sushant Singh Rajput, John Abraham to Play The Main Lead in Romeo Akbar Walter
Written and directed by Robbie Grewal (Samay: When Time Strikes, MP3: Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar), the movie is revealed to be set against the backdrop of Indo-Pakistan War of 1971
Romeo Akbar Walter was one of the exciting projects that had been announced a few months back with Sushant Singh Rajput, along with the space movie Chanda Mama Door Ke. However, while Chanda Mama Door Ke is in a limbo with the movie's budget being a huge concern, Sushant had backed out of Romeo Akbar Walter for unexplained reasons.
After his exit, there were other names discussed as his replacement for the main lead in the spy thriller. Abhishek Bachchan was in consideration too. However, it is his Dostana co-star John Abraham who gets the nod here, as he has been signed to play the lead role in the movie. RAW is believed to shot in a start-to-finish single schedule of 60 days. The shoot for the movie will star from June 1 and will be held at various locations parts of Gujarat, Srinagar, and Nepal.
Written and directed by Robbie Grewal (Samay: When Time Strikes, MP3: Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar), the movie is revealed to be set against the backdrop of Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and is said to be inspired by true events. Romeo Akbar Walter is produced by Dheeraj Wadhwan, Ajay Kapoor, Vanessa Walia, and Gary Grewal. The film is expected to release later in the year.
This is not John Abraham's first foray into spy thriller e genre, as he also produced and played the main lead in Madras Cafe. Even his upcoming movie Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is said to fall under the same genre.
However. checking out the fate of the last spy thriller in Bollywood, Aiyaary, we do hope the makers of Romeo Akbar Walter will learn from its mistakes and deliver a riveting movie.
