Not Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan To Play The Lead in Kirik Party Remake
The original, film, starring Rakshit Shetty, was a huge hit and even got a Telugu remake.
After the Rs 100 crore success of this year's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aaryan is truly on a roll. Out of the three main leads in the film, it is Kartik whom producers have been relentlessly pursuing to be a part of their films. Last heard, the actor was rumoured to be in talks with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a movie with Salman Khan where he was supposedly playing his younger brother. Now the latest casting news about the actor is that he is being wooed to play the main lead in the Kannada film, Kirik Party remake.
The original, film, starring Rakshit Shetty, was a huge hit and even got a Telugu remake. Seeing how the movie connected well with the youth, plans for a Bollywood remake were placed. However, the makers were eyeing Sidharth Malhotra as the lead for the remake. Since things didn't work out with him, Kartik Aaryan has been signed for the film. The producer of the film, Ajay Kapoor, said in a statement, "We at Kyta Productions are very excited to start work on the Hindi remake of Kannada blockbuster Kirik Party with Gen-X star Kartik Aaryan. The film will also mark the directorial debut of Abhishek Jain, an extremely talented filmmaker. The film will go on floors this October."
Mid-Day had first reported this story, and they quote a source revealing, "Sidharth was in talks with producer Ajay Kapoor and director Abhishek Jain for quite some time. But he has already allotted his dates to Ekta Kapoor’s Shotgun Shaadi and the Vikram Batra biopic that is being produced by Karan Johar. Ajay couldn’t wait as long as next year for Sidharth’s dates. Post the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, he had an elaborate meeting with Kartik, who loved the coming-of-age story."
