We had reported earlier about how Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are coming together after the underrated Hasee Toh Phasee. The movie, produced by Ekta Kapoor, is based on the subject of groom kidnapping that is rampant in some of the Northern states (a 2010 movie Antardwand also dealt with the same issue). Sidharth is playing a Bihari thug in the movie who kidnaps suitable grooms and get them forcibly married to girls for lesser or no dowry.
Earlier, the film was to be called Shotgun Shaadi. But as per a report in DNA, it is now being titled Jabariya Jodi, a name that Sidharth himself approved. A source close to the project revealed to the publication, "As it’s based on pakadwa vivaah, the makers felt that this was an apt name. In Bhojpuri, jabariya means zabardasti, so the title refers to a couple who is forced to get married. The two actors have also shot for the posters before leaving for Lucknow, so they should be out soon. He (Sidharth) came across this word during the readings and told the team about it. They liked it instantly.”
Coming back to Sidharth's preparation for the role, a source close to the actor revealed to DNA, "Sid will be putting on weight for the film, but only in the form of muscle. He wants to have a fit and toned physique for Shotgun Shaadi. He has been gymming consistently and has also taken to aqua exercises for the same. He has hired a language coach who’s helping him learn a Bihari dialect and get the accent right."
