Karan Johar is excited and nervous at the same time for his next directorial, Takht. The multi-starrer that has Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt coming together with Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor will release in 2020 and the project is very close to the filmmaker's heart. Karan is returning to the director's seat after a long gap of three years and this further proves why he's so jittery for his period drama. However, while one may assume if he was always keen to rope in his favourites - Bebo and Alia for this historical drama, it wasn't the case. Janhvi Kapoor is a Huge Admirer of This Takht Actress - Guess Who.
On a recent chat show with Ranveer, Karan revealed how the only name that was constant in his mind for Takht was the Padmaavat actor himself. “When I thought of this film, I thought Ranveer Singh has to be in this film. That was my decision. I remember the narration. There would be a huge part in my heart which would’ve been crushed if for some reason you would’ve declined the offer because I had you in mind for Takht always. You were the first person who heard it. Nobody in my family knew this film was ready," he said.
Karan further revealed how anxious he was for Ranveer to give his nod to the project and his mental state was something that he had never experienced before. Adding the information on the same, the Simmba actor revealed, “I just wanna tell people that Karan called me over and when he started narrating the film himself, suddenly I asked myself who is this person? I don’t know this person! His eyes were red, the body was flushed, hands were trembling and there was an aura around him. It was almost like he was tripping." Alia Bhatt: I Don't Know What Takht Is About.
Karan later justified his anxiousness by stating that Takht as a genre is completely out of his territory. He has no previous experiences in working on a historical project and that sums up why he's so nervous. Well, with a star cast as stellar as that, we see no reason why he should worry at all.
