Not Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt to Play the Lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Next?
Alia Bhatt is now at the top of her game after delivering a Rs 100 crore grosser with Raazi.
Alia Bhatt is now at the top of her game after delivering a Rs 100 crore grosser with Raazi. There is no male superstar to take credit from her this time, with the only weapons she possessed to make Raazi such a good watch are a good script and good direction. With Raazi's super success, there is now no doubt that Alia Bhatt is now at the top of the actresses in her generation, delivering consistent hits and good performances back to back.
Now, if this particular piece of news is true, then Alia Bhatt's class will also have the stamp of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's credence. There is a gossip going around that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next might not star his regulars - Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh; instead it will be young Alia who would play the lead. A source revealed to BollywoodHungama, "Alia is at that threshold of her career where she needs to move even further up. Only a director of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s calibre can give her career and image an unexpected push that would take her even higher on the road to superstardom."
As of now there is no official confirmation on this, so we have to wait for either Alia or SLB to come out and confirm on this. Interestingly, the same report also mentions that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was supposed to launch Alia in a movie called Hamari Jaan Ho Tum, when she was just 12. She was to be paired with Aditya Narayanan, the son of singer Udit Narayanan (a bullet dodged there for sure). This was around the same time as he was launching Alia's now rumoured boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor in Saawariya. Weird, isn't it? Currently, Alia is working on Kalank, Brahmastra and Gully Boys.
