Arjun Reddy was one of the most critically acclaimed movies in Telugu cinema last year. This romantic drama was directed by Sandeep Vanga, who had made his directorial debut with this movie. Vijay Devarakonda and Shalini Pandey played the leads in the film, which also won over the box office too. Earlier there were reports that the movie would be getting the Bollywood treatment with Arjun Kapoor taking on the male lead. However, as per the latest development, another Kapoor is all set to replace the Mubarakan actor.

Mumbai Mirror reports that not Arjun, but Shahid Kapoor is pencilled in to play the lead in the movie. A source close to the development told the newspaper, "The film is scheduled to go on the floors in July and the team is looking for an actress opposite Shahid at the moment. While the locations are yet to be finalised, the plan is to shoot in India as well as abroad."

The report further states that the remake would retain the director of the original movie, while Murad Khetani and Ashwin Warde will produce it. The makers are looking for the right actress to play the female lead. Waiting for the official announcement on this soon.

It is quite impressive to see Shahid Kapoor looking to go 'small but effective' in his upcoming movies, after delivering a Rs 300 grosser this year in Padmaavat. He is all set to play the lead in Shree Narayan Singh's satire, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, as well as in Airlift director Raja Krishna Menon's next.
