Akshay Kumar is an actor who has been said to do movies with a nationalist flavour, which is only partly true. Sure, he has done films like Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, Rustom, Baby and Pad Man that belong to this category, but Akshay is also a part of complete commercial flicks like the Housefull series and the upcoming 2.0. The same quality can also be applied to another actor - John Abraham. Ever since 2013's Madras Cafe, most of his recent movies have that patriotic fervour. Case in point, this year's Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran and the upcoming Satyamev Jayate.

Now we hear that John  Abraham has signed on to play the lead in the sequel to 1999 hit, Sarfarosh. The first movie was a cult cop-terrorism drama that has Aamir Khan in the lead role of the iconic ACP Ajay Singh Rathod. John Mathew Matthan, who made the first film, will also be directing the sequel. Speaking Mid-Day, John confirmed that he is not only playing the lead in the film, but also producing it.

He said, “John Mathew Matthan and I are co-producing the film. We are still working on the script, but, yes, it’s happening with me. We plan to go on floors next year. He is probably the only director whose house I went to after seeing Sarfarosh and said, ‘Man what a film’.” We have to add here that John Abraham had a cameo in Matthan's next film after Sarfarosh, the Ajay Devgn-Shahid Kapoor starrer Shikhar (John's ex, Bipasha Basu was the female lead here).

John will also be seen in the encounter drama Batla House and the spy thriller, Romeo Akbar Walter. So are you excited about John Abraham in Sarfarosh 2?
