Netflix's new Indian anthology Ghost Stories started streaming from the midnight of the new year. The trailer had created some stir. Starting a new year with horror stories may not be the ultimate plan for many but for horror aficionados, it was a perfect beginning. However, Ghost Stories seem to have fallen short on many accounts. The anthology is directed by Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar. Here’s What Zoya Akhtar’s Ghost Stories Segment Starring Janhvi Kapoor Is All About
Dibakar Banerjee's short has Gulshan Devaiah in the lead, Anurag Kashyap keeps it spooky with a pregnant Shobhita Dhupliwal, Zoya Akhtar has Janhvi Kapoor, Vijay Verma, Surekha Sikri and Raghivir Yadav in the cast whereas Karan Johar keeps it lavish with Avinash Tiwari, Mrunal Thakur, Kush Kapila and Jyoti Subhash.
Twitter has unanimously slammed Karan Johar's short. Many even applauded him to bring a Shaadi sequence in a horror film but all in good sarcasm. Check out the reactions right here...
First of all, here are some general views about the anthology as a whole
Watched the 1st episode of #GhostStories on Netflix. The only thought that came to mind pic.twitter.com/oP3k0r42C0

Not so sensible
Saw this new Netflix horror-ish movie called Ghost Stories and the first 2 short stories were quite ordinary. Weird, but ordinary. The 3rd one, a zombie story had the right kind of thrills but I couldn't quite make sense of it. #2020NewYear

Some love for Zoya Akhtar
So talking about #GhostStories, Except the first story i.e.,#JanhviKapoor’s and #ZoyaAkhtar’s, rest is boring 🥱 or not much of interesting.
Film Lacks horror elements or jump scares. And it looks like no Horror Film.
Watch and judge it urselfs.
Opinion varies 🤷🏻♂️.#Netflix

Dibakar Banerjee gets a lot of love
Hat off to @DibakarBanerjee for his brilliant take on the caste system and corruption in Netflix's Ghost Stories horror segment! @NetflixIndia @anuragkashyap72

Zoya gets some love again
Zoya Akhtar has got the actor out of Jhanvi Kapoor. Very expressive. 1 down. #GhostStories #Netflix

Karan Johar Slam begins...
So #ghoststories on @NetflixIndia was absolute garbage. Watching Netflix movies is as bad as eating microwaved instant ramen noodles. @karanjohar yours was the worst. Even an Aahat episode has more thrills. First day of 2020 was wasted.

That's the way Mahi Ve!
Only @karanjohar can bring in a wedding sequence and a punjabi song into even an eerie ghost story 😁 #GhostStories #netflix @NetflixIndia

What's in a song, KJo?
#GhostStories Kjo’s short is terrible. It’s a colossal waste of time, money & talent. Can even forgive the logical loopholes & its leading lady’s questionable character judgement but tha dei I’ll never forgive u for placing a song in this short film. It’s a Netflix original FFS.

Try me instead of Karan Johar!
@NetflixIndia #GhostStories @karanjohar thats what happens when you give a chance to such talented directors.😂😂😂. For god sake give me 1/4th of the budget and ill make a better film. Do they really need these chances. Comeon hunt for deserving directors netflix.

Hopes dashed, blame it on KJO
@karanjohar Sir I have always looked forward for a Dharma release but yesterday I saw Ghost stories on Netflix. Utter disappointed after I saw how comically you handled your story. It was a joke in the name of horror..

So you can see that Netflix might have singed its hands once again after Drive with this anthology. At least that's what the popular sentiment is on Twitter.
