The winners of the 66th National Film Awards were announced today. There were some expected hits. The award for the Best Actor will be shared between Ayushmann Khurrana for Andhadhun and Vicky Kaushal for Uri: The Surgical Strike. Both the actors from the younger lot delivered a memorable performance. Taking to his social media pages, Vicky released a statement expressing his gratitude. He wrote, "Words might fall short to describe the happiness I'm feeling right now. For my work to be recognised by the honourable National Film Awards Jury is truly a moving moment for me and my family," National Film Awards 2019: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho Bags Best Supporting Actress for Surekha Sikri.
"I wish to thank each and every member of the jury committee for finding me worthy of the prestigious Best Actor Award for my work in URI-The Surgical Strike," he said. The actor also acknowledged Ayushmann's win along with his. "I'm also very happy to be sharing the award with someone whom I admire, both as a person and as an actor. Vicky, further, added, "I wish to dedicate this Award to my parents, to every member of Team URI, to our nation and to our armed forces who put their lives on the line each day, come rain or storm. Thank You!"
Vicky Kaushal's Uri is one of the most successful movies to come out in 2019. It was able to earn Rs 245 crore at the box office, which is quite a rare numbers for a movie not starring one of the Khans. The movie has been directed by Aditya Dhar, who also won the National Award today.
