The annual National Film Awards by the government were announced this (August 9, 2019) afternoon and many Bollywood projects bagged top honours in different categories. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical drama, Padmaavat received three top awards and we feel the decision was justified. Ayushmann Khurrana's Andhadhun, Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike were other Bollywood movies that were able to bag some trophies in other different categories.

Anyways, focussing on Padmaavat, the historical saga managed to win awards for Best Choreography, Best Music Director (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) and Best Male Playback Singer (Arijit Singh - Binte Dil). The announcement of National Awards is definitely an added feather in their already coveted hat and we wonder how the team is planning to celebrate these different wins.

Besides Padmaavat, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal grabbed the Best Actor awards for Uri: The Surgical Strike and Andhadhun while Aditya Dhar bagged Best Director for his debut direction, Uri!
