National Award Winner Badhaai Ho to Get a Sequel Soon? Here's What We Know!

National Award-winning film Badhaai Ho may be getting a sequel soon. Buzz is, it will be tentatively titled Badhaai Ho 2 and like the original, can be expected to be a wholesome entertainer with a meaningful subject at its core. We are yet to find out more on the cast details of the film.

After taking home one of the most prestigious honours, the National Award for being the Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment honour at the 66th National Film awards 2019, we hear Badhaai Ho is now all set to get a sequel. The film starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Surekha Sikri in key roles. Not just the film, actress Surekha Sikri also won the Best Supporting Actress honour at the Nation Film Awards 2019. According to reports, the film's sequel is currently being titled as Badhaai Ho 2National Film Awards 2019: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho Bags Best Supporting Actress for Surekha Sikri.

The sequel it appears will revolve around a joint family and two young couples. If the recent reports are to go by, the film will be going on the floors next year. We are yet to know if the cast of the film remains the same. For the uninitiated, Badhaai Ho became a milestone film in Bollywood for breaching an unapproached subject with entertainment. The film revolved around Ayushmann’s character, Nakul trying to digest the fact that his 50-something mother is pregnant for the third time.

Badhaai Ho was not only loved by critics but audiences too and the film managed to make a good amount of moolah at the box office too. The success of the film has also prompted its remake in other languages. Badhaai Ho is now being remade in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Speaking about the film's South remakes, producer Boney Kapoor told IANS, "I have acquired the rights of Badhaai Ho under my production house Bayview for all the south Indian languages. I was keen on remaking it as it is a film that resonates with both the masses and classes."
