Aditya Sarportdar's Munjya is winning at the box office. For a medium-budgeted film that did not have a major promotional blitz, the horror-comedy has taken off to a great start. While the reviews have been mixed, the audience response has been more positive, and Munjya took to earning Rs 20.04 crore in its opening weekend. The film also didn't do badly on its first Monday, earning Rs 4.11 crore, totalling Rs 24.15 crore in four days. Going just by its opening weekend, Munjya has the seventh-best first weekend earnings for a Bollywood film in 2024, even bettering that of Mrs & Mrs Mahi (Rs 17.12 crore) and Maidaan (Rs 19.55 crore).  Munjya Box Office Collection Day 4: Sharvari’s Supernatural Horror–Comedy Rakes In Rs 24.15 Crore in India!

But has the film performed well to earn a 'hit' status from its theatrical business? Not yet, but Munjya is on its way to do so. The budget of the film has not been officially disclosed, but certain reports claim that Munjya has been made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. Munjya stars Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh in the lead, along with Mona Singh, Suhas Joshi and Sathyaraj in the supporting cast.

Munjya - What It Should Earn to Be a Certified Hit

Munjya's overseas box office is far from admirable. Still, it is doing reasonably well in India, especially in the Maharashtra circuit, with the Konkan setting and folklore around the region working in the film's favour. To earn a 'hit' status, Munjya has to gross more than its budget, and if we can consider the reported budget of Rs 30 crore as the benchmark here, then Munjya has to earn about Rs 40 crore to claim that. Going by its present run, it is hardly a major task for the film. Munjya Movie Review: Humour and Horror Come in Half-Measures in Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh's Supernatural Comedy.

Munjya - The Chandu Champion Challenge

Munjya is, in all possibility, going to earn that amount by its second weekend. The only deterrent that would slow down its business is this week's release, Chandu Champion. Directed by Kabir Khan and starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead, Chandu Champion is hopefully going to get a good start at the box office. While it might affect the business of Munjya, it shouldn't be too worrying for Maddock Films, the producer of the horror-comedy. The producers can be assured enough to know that it is confidently on its way to being a hit.
