At least Bhaiaji Superhit can blame its production issues for the delay. Mohalla Assi has an even sadder reason to be blamed for its delay in release. The Sunny Deol-starrer was supposed to come out a couple of years back. However, the Pahlaj Nihalani-led Censor Board had some serious issues with some of the themes in the film and they refused to certify the movie, citing the movie is derogatory to the Hindu sentiments. Later, a screener of the full film got leaked online. Thanks to all these issues, Mohalla Assi has been getting its release postponed. Just when the hopes of the movie having a theatrical release seemed dim, the makers of Mohalla Assi made a surprise announcement - the movie will finally release on November 16, a week after Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan. Mohalla Assi is directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi of Pinjar fame. Sakshi Tanwar plays the female lead, while the movie also stars Ravi Kishen, Saurabh Shukla, Mukesh Tiwari and Seema Azmi.
