Earlier this year, Akshay Kumar dished out a hit film in the form of historical war drama Kesari and now his latest offering Mission Mangal has also joined the bandwagon. Though the space drama has been in theatres only for five days, it has already created a few records at the box office and is also a part of the Rs 100 crore club. Yes, Mission Mangal has surpassed the milestone figure in just five days and has become Akki's fastest film to do so along with 2.0 which came out last year. After setting the box office on fire over the opening weekend, the multi-starrer film passed the crucial Monday test as well and added another Rs 8.91 crore to its grand total. Mission Mangal Box Office Collection Day 4: Akshay Kumar's Space Drama Beats 2.0 to Become His Biggest Opening Weekend Grosser, Rakes in Rs 97.56 Crore

Revealing the film's updated collection, film trade analyst Sumit Kadel wrote on his Twitter timeline just a while back, "#MissionMangal Monday- ₹ 8.91 cr. Total Rs. 106.47 cr nett." Co-starring Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Nithiya Menen and Sharman Joshi, the movie opened to good reviews from the critics on Thursday, August 15 and then took a massive opening at the ticket windows despite being a non-solo release.

Declaring that Mission Mangal is already a huge hit, trade portal Boxofficeindia.com has reported, "There is a drop of 50% plus from the Friday and the major multiplexes have fallen even more but there has been a huge drop in ticket prices at these multiplexes as they were at blockbuster levels for the first five days. The film is among the top three HITS of the year with Kabir Singh and Uri - The Surgical Strike." Mission Mangal Box Office Collection Day 3: Akshay Kumar's Newest Release Witnesses Superb Growth on Saturday, Collects Rs 70.02 Crore

"The drop is more in the big multiplexes due to this reduction in ticket prices but the overall number is still very good for a Monday and there is an open weekend to come where the film should dominate again." Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is based on India's The Mars Orbiter Mission which is also known as Mangalyaan and was launched in November 2013.
