Mission Mangal Box Office Collection Day 2: Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's Multi-Starrer Film Scores Big on Friday, Rakes in Rs 46.44 Crore

Made on a reported budget of Rs 32 crore, Mission Mangal was shot in approximately 30 days. The movie, jointly produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, Fox Star Studios, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu, is based on The Mars Obiter Mission of India which is popularly known as Mangalyaan.

Mission Mangal, which hit the screens on August 15, has literally set the box office on fire. After taking a massive opening of Rs 29.16 crore on day 1 and becoming the second biggest opener of 2019, Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's multi-starrer space drama got cash registers ringing on Friday as well. Though it was a normal weekday, Mission Mangal stayed solid at the ticket windows and collected Rs 17.28 crore on day 2. With that, Jagan Shakti's directorial venture will now surpass the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office today itself. Coming back to the figures, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter a while back and announced the updated collection. He tweeted, "#MissionMangal is unstoppable on Day 2 [working day after a big holiday]... Multiplexes are terrific, driving its biz... Day 3 and 4 will be massive again... Eyes ₹ 85 cr+ total in *extended* weekend... Thu 29.16 cr, Fri 17.28 cr. Total: ₹ 46.44 cr. India biz."

Though Mission Mangal wasn't a solo release and came out alongside John Abraham's action thriller Batla House on Independence Day, it has managed to pack a solid punch at the ticket windows in India. And after a super impressive start at the BO, it's very much likely that Akshay starrer will earn around Rs 80 crore in its four-day extended opening weekend.
