In a new twist to the tale, the woman who accused filmmaker Vikas Bahl of sexual assault has refused to take the legal route against him. Reacting to the same Vikas has given a statement through his lawyer saying that the accuser is taking the easy way out after ruining his life.
As per a report carried by DNA After Hrs, senior advocate Janak Dwarkadas, appearing for Bahl said, “There cannot be such an easy way out. The allegation has ruined my (client’s) life, but it is immaterial to her. Now, I won’t have the opportunity to prove my innocence. My reputation in the industry has been tarnished at the hands of an alleged victim, who does not want to take any legal recourse.” Vikas Bahl Still on Board Super 30, Joins the Film’s Post-Production Work.
“I do not wish to relive any further what has transpired and I request that my presence in this proceeding be dispensed with and I be dropped as a party,” said the accuser, earlier.
"Why I have not made a police complaint is plain to see, if one considers how formal processes have failed to achieve any measure of accountability and lead only to further victimisation of sexual assault survivors.” she said in the statement submitted to Bombay high court on Tuesday.
But this doesn't mean that the woman would not want to pursue the case legally in the future. She added, "I want to walk away and put the incident behind me. I have suffered a lot over the years. However, my liberty to pursue the case in future should not be taken away,”
In the wake of the #MeToo movement in India, many big names have surfaced as alleged sexual predators including Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Mukesh Chabbra, to name a few. Expect even bigger names to be allegedly exposed any day, now.
