A few days ago, social media was hit by #MeToo movement (led by Tanushree Dutta) which helped many people raise their voice against sexual harassment at work. Amid this, many prominent names like Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Varun Grover and many more cropped up in the list of accused. Also, music composer Anu Malik was named as one of the accused persons in this movement. However, singer Sonu Nigam asked for 'proof' while speaking on these allegations against his colleague at recently held Agenda Aaj Tak 2018 event. Singer Sona Mohapatra took Twitter to slam the Kal Ho Naa Ho singer for backing Anu Malik and asking for proof. Sonu Nigam Takes a Dig at Guru Randhawa’s Song Ban Ja Rani; Says “It’s Like You Are Bribing the Girl to Please Her”.

The "Ambarsariya" singer shared an article on the micro-blogging site and wrote, "So much sympathy for a millionaire losing work? So much empathy for his privileged family being ‘tortured’?How about the scores of girls & women he tortured?Multiple testimonies not proof enough? “Sonu Nigam backs Anu Malik on #MeToo: Where is the proof?”"

During the event, Sonu was quoted saying, "If you say, ‘Anu Malik met me this morning’, that’s fine. You accused him without any proof; let’s accept that too? Had he wanted to say anything, he could have said a lot. But he did not. If I say that you misbehaved with me, you will ask me for proof. But there’s no proof, right? Despite that, people are respecting the accusers, who are tarnishing Anu Malik’s name. But how can you ban him? How can you snatch his bread and butter? How can you torture his family?”

Sonu also said in the same event, "Sometimes, I feel like it would be better if I was from Pakistan. At least I would get offers from India." Further he explained that how Indian singers are asked to pay to sing in a show where as singers like Atif Aslam or Rahat Fateh Ali Khan don't have to. Well, we wonder what Sonu has to say on Sona's criticism towards his statements now.
