The #MeToo movement has taken an all new turn in India. The movement saw a dip over the past month. But new allegations on India's favourite filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has stirred up the conversation once again. Popular film lyricist Javed Akhtar, Hirani's friend, has come out in support of him and tweeted a few words defending him. He termed him one of the most decent people in the film industry. The words have drawn a mixed reaction from Twitterati. While some has resonated with him, many have called him out. Some have even said that they have even more reasons to doubt Hirani after Javed's defence.
Javed took to his Twitter page, earlier in the day, and wrote, "I had come to the film industry in 1965. After so many years if I am asked who are the most decent people you met in this industry over almost 5 decades, perhaps the first name that will come to my mind is RAJU HIRANI. G.B Shaw has said . “ it is too dangerous to be too good” (sic)" Rajkumar Hirani Denies Sexual Assault Claims, Calls the #MeToo Story 'Malicious'.
To this, reactions are coming in from all quarters.
A guy who gets a character certificate from you needs to be investigated even more thoroughly. That's the credibility you have.

This person made a logical point
True but there is also private promiscuous nature of a person which maybe not be visible to the outer social world. Again this is also dimension of human behaviour.

Let the court decide
Respected Sir, you are saying this on the basis of your experience with him. The lady had filed her complaint on the basis of her experience with him. Let court decide.

Is he trying to troll Javed?
Even I thought Raju Hirani is a decent person but since you vouch for him, I have doubt now. Have to rethink.

This person simply asked Javed to not defend
Sir may be you are correct. But if his Raju Hirani have been named you should not defend him.

So far the woman in question has only talked to the media and has raised her concern through an e-mail to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Hirani's close associate. The matter is yet to take the legal route. But Hirani has his laweyers ready. Let us see what happens to this #MeToo story.
