The trailer of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mere Pyare Prime Minister is out and it gives away the crux of the story. All this while, the makers had kept us under the impression that the film is all about sanitation problems and open defecation problems in the country. However, there is more to it. Little boy Kanhu is fighting for his mother Sargam to get a toilet in one of the slum areas where they stay. One night when she is heading out to pee in the open, she gets raped by someone. The film is about the eight-year-old boy who writes to the Prime Minister about the problems of open defecation he faces. The film was produced with the help of money gathered from several Non-Governmental Organisations, as Mehra mentioned earlier that it was a film "based on a social issue".
National award-winning actress Anjali Patil plays the lead in the film. The other cast included Makarand Deshpande, Rasika Agashe, Sonia Albizuri, and Nachiket Purnapatre. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ Release Deferred to March 8, 2019.
