As per the latest box office update, the movie had grossed more than $700 million worldwide. What's the interesting bit is that Black Panther is yet to release in China, which is touted at one of the biggest international markets for cinema.
Even in India, the superhero movie, directed by Ryan Coogler, is doing good business.
Earlier speaking to ABC News, MCU Chief Kevin Feige called Black Panther the best Marvel movie there is. He had said, "The movie finished, and I looked over at Ryan, I said, 'that's the best movie we've ever made. Clearly you have anticipation from an audience that has never seen themselves portrayed like this before. What Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did fifty years ago was pretty bold in the mid-60s to say here is a character from Africa from this African nation who's smarter than you, who's richer than you, who's more technologically advanced than you and we wanted to stay true to that."
Also in another interview to Variety when asked about the sequel, he had said, "We always say we work on one movie at a time. If you have any good ideas, put it in the movie you’re making. If you don’t, you might not be able to make another one. That said, Panther has been around for more than half a century in the comic books and there are many, many stories to tell." But he confirmed that Ryan Coogler will return to direct, whenever the sequel happens.
