Swara Bhasker has been one actor in Bollywood who has often voiced her opinion on topics that affect the society and she didn't shy away from sharing her thoughts from the heinous Kathua Rape Murder and Unnao rape case. The actress, who also hosted the show on Rajya Sabha TV called Samvidhaan which showed the making of the Indian Constitution, is known for her intellectual bent of mind, also put a photo of her on instagram holding a placard which said that she was ashamed by the incidents (like everyone).
Swara Bhasker was appreciated for her concern about the state of women in the country and for raising her voice against the rape cases. But the memory of the masses is short lived. Recently, when the actress promoted Amazon's tweet regarding its new campaign called Ajnabi Shehar ki Googly, which tries convincing the customers that amazon- the online retail giant has everything they need when they shift or move to a new city. The TV advertisement can often be seen during the ads while IPL matches on TV. But soon, many on Twitter started running a campaign called delete amazon, after Swara put up the tweet in support on amazon. Amazon deleted the tweet later.
Here are the tweets which started doing the rounds after Swara supported Amazon:
@JeffBezos can't have an India hater like Swara endorsing our 'Apni Dukaan' Amazon. I nominate 5 pple & request them to nominate 5 each from their side to keep the chain going @roopal01 @just_kashyap @JMehta65 @JayaRjs @NoExtremes Jai Hind! Vande Mataram #BoycottAmazon

There were tweets that urged others to delete amazon in the name of nationalism and what not:
Dear @amazonIN I am one of your prime customer and if you endorse people like @reallyswara to endorse your brand then no more business with U. #BoycottAmazon
— Amit Vikram Singh (@vikram710) April 20, 2018
One of the tweets among many also shared the image of Amazon app being deleted:
#BoycottAmazon #boycottswara Here is my contribution.... मेरे प्यारे @amazonIN भरे दिल से तिलांजलि देने को मजबूर 😞 country first pic.twitter.com/QWA8XWXvD5

There are many such tweets and frankly the list is getting additions even as this article is being written. Some even compared this to the Amir Khan and Snapdeal incident:
Only economic boycott works. Look at what happened to Snapdeal #BoycottVeereDiWedding #BoycottAmazon
— Vishal Shah (@vis0807) April 20, 2018
As the tweet has mentioned above, economic boycott is a strategy used by the "hyper-nationalist" groups and individuals to bulldoze anyone's view or opinion on a burning topic. One will recollect the episode that took place with actor Amir Khan. When the Dangal superstar, said in an Indian Express talk event that his wife feels unsafe in India following the killing of Akhlaq, a man who was killed in a UP village on the suspicion of storing beef in the house, people had started a similar boycott Snapdeal trend on Twitter. Following the row, Snapdeal felt the heat and gave in to the pressure by not extending Amir Khan's contract as brand ambassador. The giving in of major companies to these pressure tactics is what emboldens the twitter bullies who use and twist any incident to suit their narrative.
