Anurag Kashyap, for the first time, directs a love story without the usual violent shenanigans and that itself makes Manmarziyaan a refreshing change. The movie has been praised by the critics for the performances of Taapsee Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan, the dialogues and the narrative. However, despite the high praise, Manmarziyaan has underperformed at the box office. The movie has not managed to bring in great numbers over its first weekend. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Manmarziyaan has collected Rs 16.43 crore in its four-day run. Check out its tweet below -
The movie is made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, so it needs to at least cross Rs 40 crore to be called a hit. However, going by its current progression, it looks like an uphill task for the film. Moreover, with Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's Batti Gul Meter Chalu coming out this week, all the more difficult for Manmarziyaan to break even.
