Kangana Ranaut's latest release Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi may not have wowed the critics butthe film is performing well at the Indian box office. Co-starring television actress Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta, the period war drama hit the theatres on January 25 and got off to an average start. However, the film picked up over the weekend due to good word of mouth and ended up making Rs 42.55 crore in the first three days. Since then Manikarnika has continued to fare well at the ticket windows. Manikarnika Overseas Box Office Collection: Kangana Ranaut's Film Crosses $ 2 Million Mark, Mints Rs 14.24 Crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging site Twitter a while back and revealed the updated figures saying, "#Manikarnika shows solid trending on weekdays... ₹ 60 cr [+/-] total [Week 1] is excellent... #RepublicDay holiday contributed majorly... Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 18.10 cr, Sun 15.70 cr, Mon 5.10 cr, Tue 4.75 cr, Wed 4.50 cr. Total: ₹ 56.90 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu."

Kangana, who has also co-directed the big budget film, must be happy because Manikarnika is doing well in the overseas territories too. In fact, the film has already crossed the $2 million mark at the overseas box office and is still getting cash registers ringing which is commendable.

Apart from Kangana starrer, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Thackeray also released on January 25 but the biopic had a sluggish start on opening day. Though Thackeray had a good opening weekend, the film has only managed to earn Rs 28.40 crore till now according to BollywoodHungama. With Uri: The Surgical Strike still ruling the box office and Manikarnika faring well, Thackeray is finding it tough to stay afloat at the box office. Uri - The Surgical Strike Box Office Collection Day 19: Vicky Kaushal's Film Continues to Trend Well, Earns Rs 164.10 Crore.
