Kangana Ranaut's latest outing Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi seems to be doing decent business at the box office. Though the film is maintaining low figures on weekdays, Kangana starrer should surpass the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office by next week as no big film is arriving in theatres this Friday. Co-starring television actress Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta, Manikarnika released on January 25 and got off to an ordinary start. However, the film picked up over the first weekend and then ended up minting over Rs 50 crore in just 5 days. Manikarnika Box Office Collection Day 10: Kangana Ranaut's Film Has a Good Weekend, Mints Rs 76.65 Crore.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging site Twitter a while back and revealed the updated figures. He wrote, "#Manikarnika is maintaining at lower levels... [Week 2] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 5.25 cr, Sun 6.75 cr, Mon 2.25 cr, Tue 2.05 cr. Total: ₹ 80.95 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu."
While the period war drama had a good first week at the domestic box office, it may not earn big money at the ticket windows this week as Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike is still the first choice for most cinemagoers. The film is faring so well that it could enter the Rs 200 crore club by Friday itself. Uri - The Surgical Strike Box Office Collection Day 25: Vicky Kaushal Starrer Fares Well on Its Fourth Monday, Should Enter Rs 200 Crore Club This Week.
Along with Kangana's Manikarnika, Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray also hit the theatres on January 25, however, the film failed to impress the critics and the audience alike. Despite starring an actor like Nawaz in the lead, the political biopic couldn't get cash registers ringing and was pretty much out of most theatres by the second Monday.
