While Hollywood superhero flick Spider-Man: Far From Home arrived in cinema halls on Thursday, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production venture Malaal also hit the screes this week. Starring two new faces, Meezaan and Sharmin Segal in the lead, the movie released on Friday and received not so good reviews from the critics. Since there was hardly any buzz around Malaal, the dramatic love story failed to find an audience at the cinema halls. As a result, SLB's latest venture witnessed a very low occupancy on Friday and ended up raking around Rs 45 to 50 lakh on day 1. Malaal Movie Review: Sharmin Sehgal and Meezaan’s Romantic Drama Is Charming but Lacks Novelty and Substance

Trade portal Boxofficeindia.com has reported, "Malaal is a disaster with collections of 45-50 lakhs nett on day one. The collections of this film are lower than the likes of Loveyatri and Notebook released in October 2018 and March 2019 respectively which were similar films with newcomers."

"There is no hope for this film as the collections are too low for the release size of this film. Even here most of the collections have come from Mumbai circuit with practically no audience in other circuits." Since Meezaan and Sharmin's first outing has got off to a disastrous start, its very much likely that Malaal will be out of theatres after week 1 itself. Jaaved Jaaferi Slams KRK After the Latter Calls Malaal Debutantes Meezaan and Sharmin Segal ‘Duffer Actors’ – Read Tweets
