Mahima Chaudhry whose original name is Ritu Chaudhry was born in Darjeeling in West Bengal on September 13, 1973. She was born to a Jat father from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh while her mom is of Nepalese origin from Darjeeling. She was encouraged to pursue a career in acting by one of her maternal aunts who worked in Doordarshan. She was popular as a VJ on TV, which led to Subhash Ghai spotting her talent and casting her in Pardes (1997). Mahima Chaudhry also did the famous Pepsi 1995 commercial with Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai.

While she had a good stint as an actress delivering notable performances in Pardes (1999), Dil Hai Tumhara (2002), Baghban (2003), Dil Kya Kare (1999) and so on, her personal life was truly a turbulent one.

‘Cheated’ On by Leander Paes

Leander Paes was at the peak of his success in 2000. He met Mahima Chaudhry at a party and the two fell in love. It was her first serious relationship. They dated for three years where we could see her cheering him on from top tennis stadiums of the world. In 2003, she ended her affair after she caught him cheating on her with Rhea Pillai. The gorgeous model was then-married to Sanjay Dutt. She had heard rumours of him slyly seeing Pillai but when she heard him talking to her on the phone, she told him, "It's Off". Years later, Mahima Chaudhry told Miss Malini in an interview, "He maybe a good tennis player, but he didn’t play fair with me. It wasn’t really shocking for me when I came to know that he was going around with someone else. His exit had no impact on my life. In fact, I became more mature as a person. Turbulent Marriage With Architect-Businessman Bobby Mukherjee

In 2006, fans heard that she had a hush-hush marriage with Bobby Mukherji who is a famous architect. He was a friend of her brother. In 2011, a report came on how they were living separately. Mahima Chaudhry’s Battle With Cancer

In 2022, she fought a lonely battle with breast cancer. Later, Mahima Chaudhry opened up on how it was heartbreaking for her daughter Ariyana to see her in that state. Mahima Chaudhry was also caring for her mother, a Parkinson's patient at that time. Thankfully, her cancer was detected early and she made a complete recovery.
