Mahie Gill makes an impression whenever you see her on-screen. Those beautiful round eyes and the many expressions that she can change to in an instant make her a really incredible actress. You may not have seen her lately in Hindi movies because the lady also does a lot of Punjabi films. There are few films of the actress that still resonate. She has often been seen in sensuous temptress roles but there's more to Mahie's filmography than that. Dev D Star Mahie Gill Reveals She Has a Three-Year-Old Daughter, Says ‘There Should Be No Problem With Having Children Without Marriage’
Mahie had once admitted that she never wanted to become an actress. Well, we are glad she had a change of mind and we got to enjoy her work on the big screen. Here are five of her roles that you need to know about.
Dev D (2009)
Anurag Kashyap spun a dark and despairing tale of Devdas with this film and Mahie was Paro. She wasn't the demure and timid Paro of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel but a spunky and fiery woman who likes to say what she feels. Mahie did a fantastic job of showing Paro in a new light. In fact, we love this Paro more than the ones in the book or in other movies.
Gulaal (2009)
Mahie played a parlour owner who also does mujra but it's her uncanny resemblance to Tabu that gets a lot of space here. She was bewitching in this role.
Dabangg (2010)
Although Mahie regrets doing this film because the moment she played a supporting role she started getting only similar offers, we do think she did a good job of being Arbaaz Khan's love interest. It was quirky.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (2011)
The longing and yearning of Choti Biwi were portrayed spectacularly by Mahie in this film. She was nothing like Meena Kumari from Guru Dutta Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam but the essence was the same. It is like two ends of the same spectrum depicted amazingly well by Mahie
Paan Singh Tomar (2012)
Yes the movie is about a man and his struggles but what will he be without his lovely wife. Every scene of Mahie in the film was refreshing and charming, especially the dialect.
