Madhuri Dixit is NOT Replacing Sridevi in Shiddat, Clarifies Karan Johar

Earlier today, Janhvi Kapoor surprised us through her Insta post where she revealed that Madhuri Dixit would be stepping into the role that her mother the late Sridevi was supposed to be doing. The movie was to be directed by Abhishek Varman. The Dhadak debutante had posted, "Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ....Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film...."

Now do note that she has not mentioned Shiddat anywhere in her post, but media and fans speculated that it was this movie that Janhvi was referring to. Shiddat was an ambitious movie, produced by Karan Johar and directed by Abhishek Varman (2 States) that has supposed to star Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur. However, Karan Johar had repeatedly insisted that the movie was not in the pipeline yet, making us wonder if it has been shelved for ever. Janhvi's post had reignited the talks about the movie once again. With Madhuri stepping in for Sridevi, this was also an opportunity for her to share screen with Sanjay Dutt after 17 years.

However, this turned out to be our mind going hyperactive, as Karan Johar put out a tweet confirming that the movie in which Madhuri Dixit has been cast is not Shiddat. This us what he wrote,

Guess we have jumped the gun on this one. Or have we? Maybe the title is not Shiddat or Shidhat, but perhaps the movie could be the same. Let's wait for a while and find out.

Earlier, a source close Karan Johar's production house had told to a leading daily, "There are a lot of speculative stories during the rounds about the star cast of Abhishek Varman's Shiddat but let us clarify, no one has been approached for the film yet.  Karan is very sensitive about the Kapoor family and till all the post-death rituals of Sridevi are not completed, he wouldn't start anything. Also, Karan is not in the country so till he isn't back, nobody would be approached."

Madhuri Dixit earlier has made a special appearance in Karan Johar's production Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, where she shook a leg with Ranbir Kapoor in Ghagra.
