Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan's Luka Chuppi hits the movie screens today. The film's trailer was very well received and the audience was actually awaiting this romcom which revolves around live- in relationships. Now that the film has finally released, reviews have started coming in and looks like Luka Chuppi is off on a good start. LatestLY movie critic Sreeju Sudhakaran has to say this about the Laxman Utekar- directed movie: "Luka Chuppi may find attractors thanks to Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon's growing fan-base. However, to enjoy the movie, you have to get over its shoddy premise and lack of humour. At best, Luka Chuppi has one-time watch value that mostly depends on how big a fan you are of Kartik, and whether you ready to forgive the makers for wasting Pankaj Tripathi". And here's what others have said about Luka Chuppi:
NDTV: The film does well to call out the moral police, the flag-bearers of sanskriti. Yeh dharm nahi hai, mudda hai chunaav ke liye (This isn't about religion, it is an electoral issue, the hero says when he is pushed to the wall. That may be a daring statement to make in the present climate, but the impact of the assertion might have been far greater had the depredations of the religious vigilantes not been jettisoned to the background once the comic love story takes centrestage. Luka Chuppi isn't without its moments, but its downside overwhelms its strengths by a big margin. It offers shallow entertainment at best. Watch the film only if that is good enough for you.
India Today: Luka Chuppi is filled with hilarious moments, particularly the sequence of the nosy neighbour who spies on Guddu and Rashmi. Each of their unsuccessful attempts to get married also elicit a lot of laughs. Director Laxman Utekar captures the eccentrities of a small town to perfection and thanks to its crisp run-time, Luka Chuppi hardly has a dull moment. Luka Chuppi, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, will not blow your mind, but is a good watch if you are looking for something fun this weekend, says our review. Luka Chuppi Box Office Prediction: Will Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon Deliver Their First Hit Together in the Rom-Com Genre?
News18: Laxman Utekar, is a welcome addition to the list of directors looking to explore different stories –and with Luka Chuppi, it is quite evident that he is here to stay. Between the world of big metropolitan cities and the villages there is a wide swathe of small towns teeming with tales waiting to be told. This film is about one such story. Despite its flaws, Luka Chuppi holds the potential to spawn a genre around the live-in issue which in India has been quite the elephant in the room.
TimesNow: Look past the weak script and Luka Chuppi is a total laughter riot. The performances are strong, the humour for one is refreshingly different from Kartik Aaryan’s past movies. It is more situational than slapstick, though, don’t despair yet, there is enough one-liners as well, if that kind of humour floats your boat. I would recommend that you watch this movie in theatre, with a live audience, it really amplifies your viewing experience.
