Laxman Utekar's directorial venture Luka Chuppi is currently ruling the box office it seems. The romantic comedy, which stars Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon in the lead, arrived in theatres on Friday, March 1, and got off to a brilliant start as it raked in Rs 8.01 crore on its opening day. The film then witnessed an upward trend on Saturday and continued to fare well on Sunday as well. And now it won't be long before Kartik and Kriti's first film together touches the Rs 50 crore mark at the Indian box office. Luka Chuppi Box Office Collection Day 2: Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon's Film Has a Fantastic Saturday, Mints Rs 18.09 Crore.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to popular microblogging site Twitter a while back and revealed the updated figures. He wrote, "#LukaChuppi emerges a winner... Shows superb growth on Day 2 and 3... Biz doubles at many screens on Day 3... Has ₹ 30 cr+ weekend... Will remain strong today due to partial holiday [#Mahashivratri]... Fri 8.01 cr, Sat 10.08 cr, Sun 14.04 cr. Total: ₹ 32.13 cr. India biz."

Adarsh also tweeted, "Top 5 *opening weekend* biz - 2019... 1. #GullyBoy [4-day extended weekend] / Valentine Day weekend, 2. #TotalDhamaal / non-holiday, 3. #Manikarnika / Republic Day weekend, 4. #UriTheSurgicalStrike / non-holiday, 5. #LukaChuppi / non-holiday India biz."

Further, trade portal Boxofficeindia.com stated, "The film is a success even if the collections were to fall badly on the weekdays and it will be Tuesday that will tell if this film becomes a HIT." Luka Chuppi Box Office Collection Day 1: Kartik Aaryan's Rom-com Mints Rs 8.01 Crore, Becomes His Biggest Opener Beating Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2.

While Luka Chuppi was expected to do well as it had created good pre-release buzz, the film's first-day collection, however, surprised many as it turned out to be more than what was predicted. Apart from Kartik starrer, Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar's film Sonchiriya also released on Friday but the film failed to pack a solid punch at the box office as it collected only Rs 2.70 crore in first two days.
