Laxman Utekar's directorial venture Luka Chuppi could become a sleeper hit of this year. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon in the lead, the rom-com came out on Friday and surprisingly stormed the box office. The film opened to mostly positive reviews from the critics and then on day 1 the film ended up raking in Rs 8.01 crore. With that, Luka Chuppi also became the biggest opener for Kartik who seems to have mastered the rom-com genre. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter a while back and revealed the day 2 figures. He wrote, "#LukaChuppi zooms upwards on Day 2... Another strong day [Day 3] will place it in a comfortable position due to the controlled costs... Will cross *opening weekend* biz of #SKTKS [₹ 26.57 cr] and #PKP2 [₹ 22.75 cr]... Fri 8.01 cr, Sat 10.08 cr. Total: ₹ 18.09 cr. India biz."

Further, a report in Boxofficeindia.com stated, "The growth on day two was not big at around 25% considering its a multiplex film but as the first-day number was good the figures of the film remain at good levels. Apart from Luka Chuppi, Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar's dacoit drama Sonchiriya also released on Friday, March 1, but sadly it failed to set the box office on fire despite garnering rave reviews. The Abhishek Chaubey directorial could only earn around Rs 1 crore on its opening day.
