Go ahead and call me judgemental. But when you decide to remake a cult song, comments will be pelted. We already had enough of remakes in the past two years and this one just adds to the lot. It is not an entire remake, but the fact that you are using one of the most popular tunes for your track ends up being called a remake. Loveratri makers dropped 'Chogada' which has a resemblance to Amitabh Bachchan- Rekha starrer 'O Sherowali' song. Except, there is nothing else like that song in this Aayush Sharma-Warina Hussain starrer.
The original iconic song was from Manmohan Desai directed film Suhaag. The song composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and sung by duo Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi became a super-hit in no time. Reasons- the beats, the melody and Big B-Rekha's crackling yet subtle chemistry.
The song was shot to take the story ahead with many other factors happening in the backdrop while the two protagonists were immersed in playing dandiya. Rekha's flawless and beautiful expressions and Amitabh Bachchan's reaction to those expressions made the song more loveable.
Here's the original song
Enter, 2018! Here are newbies Aayush and Warina dancing energetically on the same tune WITHOUT chemistry! Also, we really could not connect to this firangi backdrop of the song. Also, the figures are jumping and moving so fast that we could hardly spot any expressions, forget matching them to that of Rekha and Amitabh.
And here's the new one!
Chogada is written and sung by Darshan Raval while Asees Kaur has lent the female voice. Well, the song is sure to be a hit during Navratri because of the beats. However, it would be worth if we got our new, fresh Navratri song instead of recreating the old one! After all, why were the debutantes made to face this comparison, without their actual fault? What is your take?
