The film is based on the crime of human trafficking that is rampant in our country, and many other countries too. Based in India, the movie is about a 17-year-old girl who puts her life in danger to save her sister from a dangerous human trafficking network. Love, Sonia is directed by Tabrez Noorani,

Television actress Mrunal Thakur is playing the lead role of Sonia. Known for her appearances in soaps like Kumkum Bhagya and Har Yug Mein Ayega Ek Arjun, Mrunal has also appeared in Marathi films. She will also be seen in Hrithik Roshan's Super 30. Apart from Mrunal, the movie also features an ensemble cast filled talented performers like Richa Chadha, Freida Pinto, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain and Anupam Kher. Hollywood stars, Demi Moore (Disclosure) and Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed) are also a part of the cast.

Love Sonia has its premiere in Leicester Square in London, where it received huge applause. Zee Studios is releasing the movie in India. Speaking about this, director Tabrez Noorani said, “I am extremely happy to associate with ZEE Studios, they have put their night behind content-driven cinema and I am glad now they will be releasing Love Sonia in India. Both Amar, our Co-Producer, David and I are elated to have Zee Studios on board.” The  movie is all set to release on September 14.
