Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju was one of the highest grossers of 2018. The biopic on the life of Sanjay Dutt was applauded by critics and appreciated by the viewers. While RK Jr was apt to portray Sanju baba on the silver screen, Paresh Rawal too was lauded for his performance as Sunil Dutt. In fact, his is the only name that comes to our mind when we think of an actor who can play Sunil Dutt on the big screen. Yes, Aamir Khan was approached for the role but it eventually went to Mr Rawal and rest as they say is history. Akshaye in this recent conversation with Deccan Chronicle revealed he was offered Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju but unfortunately he couldn't play the part. Elaborating on the same, he said, "Raj Kumar Hirani and I had a couple of meetings. In spite of innumerable ‘look tests’, I was a misfit in that character. So I missed out on working with him in the biopic." He further added, "I feel sad at not being able to work in Sanju after being bestowed upon with a chance to be the part of the film. While 'look tests' was the reason why Akshaye lost out a chance to work with Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir had some other reservations. He wanted to play Ranbir Kapoor's role in the movie and that wasn't possible in any way. Hence he rejected Sunil Dutt's role and that eventually went to Paresh Rawal. Yea, one man's loss is other man's gain.
